Spectacular Sunset, Coles Bay, Tasmania
Coles Bay in Tasmania is stunningly beautiful with its turquoise green water and windswept beaches. Angular dark rocks are continually battered by the choppy waters with earthy red-brown rocks guarding the waters edge. It's almost as if the shoreline rocks have soaked in the reds and pink tones of the sky at sunset over a millennia, so rich are their colours. It was wonderful to paint this scene – it was quite different to my usual approach as there was so much colour and movement. The wind was strong, the water was moving at a pace, the sky was changing quickly. Even though it was a challenge, it was very exciting and I felt I captured the mood!
